JCCS ‘09 Teasers

| среда, 7 октября 2009 г.

The fifth annual Japanese Classic Car Show is now in the books, and what a show it was. I thought I’d throw up a few teaser shots to hold you guys over until I can organize all my photos from today’s show (there are a lot of them this time!). Beautiful weather, tons of down to earth enthusiasts, and a fantastic selection of vintage Japanese iron. Does it get any better? Naturally I kept my eyes open for cars with aggressive stance, and there were countless examples of the wide ‘n low sitting under the warm Orange County sun. …but none as extreme as this. More on the shakotan Z soon! Continue reading at Speedhunters

Mint Comanche

| суббота, 3 октября 2009 г.

Douglas just picked up this mint Comanche and is looking to swap in a bigger engine. If you have any suggestions, leave a comment on his ride page.

I love these things. I still don’t get why Jeep doesn’t continue to offer a pickup.

As for Jetto’s Truck…

|

So while researching the Highwayman TV series, I kept coming across references to the high-tech, futuristic truck of another character, Jetto: low-slung, with the cab all the way forward of the front wheels and a flat top. The references called it a Steinwinter. Continue reading at Hemmings

GM to offer 60-Day Money Back Guarantee on All New Vehicle Purchases

| четверг, 10 сентября 2009 г.

While I think this 60-Day Money Back Guarantee Chairman Edward E. Whitacre Jr. announced today sounds like a great way to demonstrate that the General has confidence in its products, I still couldn’t help but think of a couple of funny situations. The big one? New Corvette owners returning their babies with bald tires after spending every possible second flogging them on the track, then driving to another dealership and repeating the process. It’s not that I want to see this strategy backfire—exactly the opposite: I love the General—but I have a tendency to look at things from a glass-half-full perspective. You can probably think of some other terrible type scams, so check out this New York Times article and post them in the comments.

Seriously Sick Transformers Costume

| вторник, 1 сентября 2009 г.

Initially, I was pretty impressed with this Bumble Bee costume, but after I saw that it actually transforms, I was blown away. It might not be the easiest thing to walk around in, but you know it would be awesome to show at a Halloween party in this get-up. Big-time props to the guy who made it.

Formula D Sonoma Wrap Up

| воскресенье, 30 августа 2009 г.

Although there’s nothing funner than traveling around shooting pictures of cool cars, I have to admit I’m looking forward to the break I’ll have this weekend after five consecutive weeks of events. Perhaps my Miata will get a much-needed wash? Maybe a drive in the hills? Anyways, before the end of the week, I wanted to wrap up my Formula Drift Sonoma coverage with one more batch of random photos from the event. Continue reading at Speedhunters.

The History of the Emblem

| среда, 26 августа 2009 г.

All car brands and certain makes have their own emblem. These emblems mean more than just a flashy way to copy right something, they have deep histories and great stories behind them all. For example, the Cadillac logo was inspired by a family crest of the man who had founded the very heart of the American auto industry, Detroit. BMW’s logo was inspired by an advertisement of a spinning plane propeller. Checkout the history of these famous logos and many more at Neatorama. Thanks again __nes__ !
