Hot Wheels celebrating their 40th anniversary had a Mattel “Hot Wheels Designer’s Challenge” which provided major car manufacturers, such as Lotus and Mitsubishi, to go wild with their own automobile interpretations. In that vein, Honda presented the Honda Racer!
Even though Hot Wheels are toys…. Honda took things seriously enough to create a car which “combines the excitement of Honda’s racing heritage with Hot Wheels’ reputation for speed, power, performance and attitude”, says Guillermo Gonzalez, senior designer for Honda R&D Americas, Inc., and designer of this crazy little machine.
The major elements of the Honda Racer are the “H” body featuring two seats for driver + co-pilot, and in the middle, a mechanic’s fantasy: a 20 liter VTEC V10 motor.
