Ralph Gilles Is Bringing Sexy Back To Chrysler LLC, From The Inside Out

Ralph Gilles, Chrysler LLC’s new design chief, announced that he plans to lead Chrysler in a more “organic” direction. Steering [sorry] away from the blunt edges and raw masculinity of vehicles like the Dodge “Man Wagon” Magnum and the Dodge Nitro, Gilles says consumers can look towards the Dodge Zeo and Chrysler ecoVoyager for future design cues.

Prior to assuming the role of design chief, Gilles sat at the helm of Chrysler’s interior design team. Admittedly, one of his first priorities is distancing Chrysler from their reputation for bland, plastic interiors. With the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500, Gilles believes he has successfully taken the first step in the right direction.

In addition to the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500, both the 2009 Jeep Compass and 2009 Jeep Patriot can also serve as a sneak peak of the cosmetic overhaul that is to come. Besides upgrading interior quality, another top priority of Gilles will be to bring a sleeker, subtler styling to the Chrysler line as a whole. According to Gilles, their main goal will be “getting our cars to be sexy again.”

Tata Wastes No Time: Land Rover LRX and Jaguar Sportscar Get the Go-Ahead!

| среда, 26 августа 2009 г.

Tata wastes no time after acquiring both Land Rover and Jaguar in a $2.3 billion purchase from Ford: Land Rover LRX and the Jaguar F-Type concept receive an immediate go-ahead.

After Ford sat on the decisions for the two concepts, and appropriately so since they were planning to unload them, Tata took no time at all in the aggressive decision to target them both for a 2012 release. Both the Jaguar F-Type Concept or XE as some refer to it and the Land Rover LRX give a “Tip of the Hat” to the respected design heritage of their British Auto Maker, while also giving a nod toward the future.

The Jaguar XE/F-Type is intended to be a sportscar that can compete with the big names of Porsche, Ferrari and Maserati. The open air roadster shares some of the design cues of great roadsters and racing roadsters of the past. It is uncertain as to whether the roadster design will be bolted to an XF or XK chassis, but either way it is certain to be a show-stopper.

The Land Rover LRX has made its way through a show or two and has found some outside support of its own. As a sleek two-door sport concept model it would certainly stand out among the great 4×4’s associated to Land Rover. The interior carries that Concept flare toward future gadgets and elegant seating and trimming, but unlike other concept autos Land Rover has expressed the desire to keep much of their concept LRX’s design intact well into production… as evidenced in the photo galleries to follow. Porsche Rumors Abound: Compact Car, Small SUV

| вторник, 4 августа 2009 г.

Porsche_logo_BSo the rumor has it that Porsche is considering a small car to compete against the GTI segment of the market and a small SUV to battle against the BMW X3 segment. Will those vehicles actually be developed and where the Porsche logo? Well who would have thought that Porsche would build a 4-door sedan and yet the Panamera is nearly complete.

There is very little information available concerning what will come in these latest Porsche concoctions. The only figure provided so far is that the compact car will be propelled by a 295-hp motor. What motor will use and the rest of the stats to go with it are still a mystery.

Chrysler ecovoyager concept

Three ecological concept cars have been revealed by Chrysler, one of them being the ecoVoyager Concept. The concepts will be presented at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. The ecoVoyager will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, with an autonomy of 40 miles at most and backed up by a hydrogen fuel-cell, that will fortunately have an autonomy of 300 miles. It’s 200kW engine should accelerate the car from 0 to 60 in eight seconds.

It’s design looks very futuristic and uses mostly rounded lines, that offers it a great style. Currently, they haven’t showed us sketches of the internal design, but officials say it feels like in a luxury jet. Another happy announcement for environmentalists, as the car only emits water vapor.

If you are too curious to see it in person or photographed you have to wait until January 2008.
