New Muscle at Palooza X

2009 Dodge Challenger R/T. 5.7 Hemi, 390 HP and 398 lb-ft torque

Interspersed among the Chevelles, Cougars and 4-4-2s at last weekends Musclepalooza X at Englishtown, New Jersey, were several modern muscle cars that drew just as much interest as the ’60s and ’70s performance cars. The fuel-injected and computer-laden siblings of today put out just as impressive numbers as their older brethren and added to the interest of the younger generation of attendees.

2009 Rousch 427R Mustang 4.6 Turbo V-8 435 HP and 400 lb-ft

Unfortunately, none of them ventured to the drag strip to see how they measured up to the classic muscle, but I am sure there will be a few who do so at one of next year’s Muscepaloozas.

Also at the show but not shown here, a daily-driver 2008 Bullitt Mustang (4.6-liter 315 HP and 325 lb-ft) and another Black Challenger R/T.

Mustang GT500 with 330 Cubic inch V-8 and 6-speed M/T- 500 HP

Although not your “classic muscle car” these newest editions will have their place in the performance market, hopefully, for years to come.

2006 GTO 6.0-liter LS2 engine 380 HP (510 when you hit the nitrous)

With these kinds of performance numbers, we are glad to see 21st Century muscle cars can still be enjoyed by new generations of enthusiasts.

Ford building a buzz for 2008 Bullitt Mustang unveiling at LA Auto Show

Ford has announced their plans to unleash their latest Mustang design, the 2008 Bullitt Mustang, at the LA Auto Show in November. However, with so many Mustang variations to be available in 2008 will the Bullitt be just another fish in a sea of High Priced Ponies?

It is always nice to pay tribute to the moments and movements that helped get you to where you are now. And Steve McQueen’s use of the Mustang in the movie Bullitt was jaw dropping and awe inspiring, but is Ford really recreating that feeling in its new 2008 tribute? Not that we can tell anything from the sketch provide so If they are that is great, but now at what price? For 2008 a mere Ford Mustang GT Premium has soared above the $30,000 mark. Am I the only one that thinks that is an outrageous price for a Ford Mustang GT? (more…)

2010 Ford Mustang Debuts As Hot Wheels Car... Maybe [2010 Ford Mustang]

Being unable to wait much longer for, or endure more teasers of, the 2010 Ford Mustang we're going to believe that these photos are actually the Hot Wheels version of the 2010 Mustang that is set to debut at the LA Auto Show this month. As wild as the thought is, we have a few reasons to believe that this car posted on eBay is actually a real version of the new Mustang and not a clever person with a pen, some paint and a good imagination.

First, the vehicle looks fairly similar to our own 2010 Mustang renderings, including the angles of the taillights and the shape of the grille and headlights. Also, it says "2010 Ford Mustang" at the bottom of the vehicle. This is something someone could fake, but at the very least they did a good job.

Second, the timing is right. Assuming that they want to have these ready to jump on the buzz surrounding the new Mustang, this would be the time to start putting them together.

Third, and most importantly, the seller of the vehicle is based in Malaysia. In 1982, Mattel moved their Hot Wheels production plant from Hong Kong to Malaysia. It stands to reason that the first person who would be able to get their hands on a Mattel model before anyone else would be based in the Malaysia. The seller also seems to have a seller history that supports their claim that they sell lots of Hot Wheels vehicles.

We have our doubts, but this seems like it could be the real thing.
