Consumer Reports has announced that the 2009 Hyundai Genesis has managed to take the top score in its list of upscale sedans.

The Genesis managed to beat out 4 other new sedans this year, the Pontiac G8, Acura TL, Nissan Maxima and Lincoln MKS in addition to just outscoring the Lexus ES350.

Consumer Reports had this to say about the V6-powered Genesis:

"Spacious and well appointed, the rear-wheel-drive Genesis offers good value and is a compelling alternative to luxury vehicles costing thousands more. "

More good news for Hyundai!

SEMA 2008: Rhys Millen Racing Hyundai Genesis Coupe Unveiled

Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) has unveiled an RMR-designed "Art of Speed" Hyundai Genesis Coupe at the SEMA show.

To create the coupe Hyundai delivered its first prototype Genesis Coupe 2.0T 12 weeks ago. RMR employees stripped the car to bare metal and then began creating new aftermarket parts and accessories for the new Genesis Coupe.

Inside all comfort and convenience items were removed to make way for a custom-fabricated eight-point safety cage and firewall. In addition a single Sparco racing seat was added for the driver.

On the outside Millen replaced hood, deck lid, roof, doors, fenders, front fascia and side skirts with lighter carbon fiber pieces. Under the hood the 2.0L turbocharged engine was enhanced with a Turbonetics turbocharger, waistgate and blow-off valve to provide more horsepower and torque.

Hyundai Genesis pips Lexus ES350 for Consumer Reports' top-rated "upscale sedan"

Hyundai made it clear from the onset that the new Genesis sedan would upset the balance in the luxury world, particularly at the expense of Lexus. Consumer Reports' latest round of testing proves that Hyundai has succeeded in dethroning Toyota's luxury arm as the latest credible entry into the "Upscale Sedan" arena. Just as Lexus was once the upstart that ruffled feathers, it's Hyundai's turn, and they are making the most of the opportunity with a win against all comers from the likes of Acura, Lincoln, Saab and Lexus, which had previously held the top overall spot with its ES350 sedan.

Despite the Genesis' win in direct testing, Consumer Reports doesn't have enough data to rate the sedan as "Recommended." The same goes for the ES350, which means that the Acura TL is the only competitor in the segment that officially gets CR's nod. Regardless, consider the gauntlet officially thrown at the feet of the established Japanese players, and we look forward to Round Two when Hyundai sends a shot over the bow of the sportscar world with the Genesis Coupe.

2007 Hyundai Elantra Pricing: More for Less

| пятница, 17 июля 2009 г.

2007elantra

Hyundai has beefed up the redesigned 2007 Elantra in size, but not in price. Despite a litany of standard features, more interior room and the new design, the base Elantra GLS actually starts for almost $700 less than the outgoing 2006 model. The 2007’s base price of $13,395 not (including a $600 destination charge) is a relative bargain when you consider the standard features like side curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, four-wheel disc brakes and an auxiliary input for your iPod or other MP3 player. The new Elantra goes on sale later this month. A full list of pricing is below.

  •   Elantra GLS            5-Speed M/T        $13,395

  •   Elantra SE              5-Speed M/T        $15,695
  •   Elantra SE              4-Speed A/T        $16,695
  •   Elantra Limited        5-Speed M/T        $16,695
  •   Elantra Limited        4-Speed A/T        $17,695
